Fierce Content Management
FatWire introduces WEM framework
Author: Sharon Fisher
After essentially making up the term Web Experience Management, and having other members of the industry adopt it, FatWire Software has now announced a Web Experience Management Framework to make it easier to integrate third-party and custom-built applications into its product suite.
FatWire also announced that several partners, including Mahindra Satyam, Congruent, frevvo and Element 115, were using the WEM Framework.
The advantage of the framework is that it provides a common user interface to all the applications that support it, as well as common administration. This makes it easier for developers, because they don't have to invent all that stuff themselves, and users, because it's easier to learn new applications. In addition, the framework supports the REST API, which makes it easier for developers to write applications that can communicate with each other.
WEM, which is seen as an extension of Web Content Management, provides functionality such as content authoring, site design, content publishing, dynamic deployment, multi-lingual content management, content targeting, content integration, web content analytics and user participation--basically anything that surrounds the content and helps make websites more "sticky."
The company also announced that its Content Server module now integrates with Google Analytics, so users can measure the use of their FatWire websites. The integration module is free for registered developers from FatWire's website.
