Project Manager/Team Lead
Location: Mineola, NY

Responsibilities:

  • Manage, hire and develop the software development team - both offshore and onshore
  • Drive estimates and schedule for portions of or full releases of the product
  • Direct a team of professional software developers in the design, development and delivery of new Products
  • Motivate and manage the team to meet deliverables on time and within budget
  • Participate in strategic business development as part of the leadership team
  • Interact with other business units to ensure product delivery and maintenance for the customer
  • Evaluate and enhance software engineering standards, technologies and approaches
  • Be actively involved in day-to-day projects to meet schedules and resolve problems.
  • Utilizes people skills and available manager tools to help subordinates develop within their role and career; and builds an environment that supports cooperation and cohesiveness
Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field

Work Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering with 3+ years of management/lead experience
  • Shipped a minimum of three releases and at least one v1.0 where involvement was from start to finish.
  • Understanding and prior involvement in all the phases of a software product lifecycle
  • Up-to-date on current and best practices and technologies related to software engineering and project management
  • Experience with Agile methodologies preferred

Technical Skills:

  • Experience of working on enterprise Java/J2EE server projects with an in-depth management role
  • Hands on experience with Java, Servlets, and JSP.
  • Solid experience of working on Windows and at least one brand of UNIX
  • Ability to quickly understand large software bases and recognize areas for improvement and extension is required.

Soft Skills:

  • Organized and detail-oriented, with demonstrated analytical skills.
  • Must have an ability to remain focused on large-scale projects
  • Strong project/program management
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects is required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, especially for technical information.
