Independent Research Firm Recognizes FatWire Software as a Leader in WCM for Retail
Report cites FatWire's capabilities that match the content and commerce-centric requirements of retailers

Mineola, NY - August 31, 2005 -- FatWire Software, a leading provider of content management solutions for deploying highly persuasive Web applications and sites, announced that it has been ranked by Forrester Research as a Leader in the Forrester Wave: Web Content Management for Retail report. This report specifically rates content management vendors in their ability to serve the sophisticated needs of retailers and consumer products companies that do business across multiple channels, including the Web.

In the report, Forrester analyst Tamara Mendelsohn called out FatWire's focus on the retail and manufacturing industries, and strengths in catalog management, campaign management, and personalization features. "While FatWire has a large installed base of manufacturers that reach out to consumers through content-centric sites, its capabilities match the more commerce-centric requirements of traditional retailers," stated Mendelsohn in the report.

This recognition of the strength of FatWire's technology and market strategy for the retail industry comes after FatWire was cited as a Leader in Forrester's Web Content Management Wave report in April, 2005, and a Strong Performer in the Product Information Management Wave report in December, 2004. FatWire was the only Content Management vendor to be included in the Wave report for Product Information Management.

The key findings of this report reinforce FatWire's strategy to enable enterprises to put content to work by delivering highly targeted and persuasive experiences to customers, partners, and employees. "Consumer product manufacturers, distributors, and retailers need to influence the opinions and behaviors of consumers, persuading them to take actions that support the company's business goals," said Jeff Ernst, vice president of marketing at FatWire Software. "To maximize conversion rates, companies need the ability to manage unstructured content, rich media, product information, and campaigns within a single solution, and to put control of the delivery of this information into the hands of marketers and merchandisers."

FatWire's flagship product, Content Server combines the three key capabilities that are needed for deploying dynamic, persuasive Web applications:
  • Transparent content management – Business people create and manage content with the tools and processes they already know and use everyday. There is no need to learn new tools or change how they work.
  • Persuasive Targeted Marketing – Marketing people can easily define the rules for who should see what content under what conditions, using wizard-driven interfaces. This results in end user experiences that persuade audiences to take actions that support a company's business goals.
  • Scalable, dynamic content delivery – Allows companies to manage large numbers of sites and applications, and reuse content, business logic, and design elements across these sites, while scaling for high performance.

FatWire was among the select companies that Forrester invited to participate in its Web Content Management Wave for Retail report. Forrester's comprehensive Wave methodology assesses the strengths and weaknesses of each vendor's solution using a combination of hands-on lab evaluations, vendor surveys, product demonstrations, and client interviews. In the process, each vendor's product is evaluated against approximately 200 criteria.
