Pre-requisites
- Experience with databases (SQL statements, queries etc) is recommended.
- A good understanding of the Web processing techniques as well as the experience with one of the following: JSP, ASP, or CGI (in any of these languages C, C++, Tcl, or Perl)
- Content Server Core Developer I and/or II is recommended, but not required
Overview
This two-day course is designed to develop and enhance the skills and techniques needed to administer and manage Content Server Suite of products.
Students will learn how to build and configure a site, add asset types, users, roles, and permissions, build a workflow, schedule publishing events, and learn many other core features available in Content Server (and the Content Server family of products). A series of “hands-on” laboratory exercises will focus on learning the commonly used techniques and practices in Content Server administration and management.
Skills you will learn
- Gain an understanding of the Content Server product architecture.
- Learn content modeling using Basic and Flexible assets.
- Create Basic asset type and Flexible family.
- Learn how to build a Content Server site, add users, create user’s roles and ACL’s.
- Understand the basic database schema for Content Server.
- Practice with Content Server tools:
- Content Server Explorer
- Catalog Mover
- Property Editor
- Learn how to set, configure, and use the following Content Server components:
- Publishing
- Workflow
- Revision Tracking
- Identify main Content Server caching techniques
Who Should Attend?
This course is designed for Content Server System Administrators who are or will be involved in administering the Content Server suite of products. This course can also be useful for Developers or System Architects who would like to gain a more thorough understanding of the administrative side of Content Server products and possibly become involved in the configuration and administration of Content Server sites. This course can compliment the Content Server Core Developer course, which does not focus on administrative side of the product.
